Acrylic Painting Workshop | Zesty Lemons Still Life

The perfect opportunity to take some time for yourself or enjoy a creative experience with a friend. A warm, welcoming atmosphere where you can relax, learn and enjoy painting.

Date: 5th Dec 2026
Time: 12-3:30
Venue: Great Ayton Methodist Church
Address: High Street, Great Ayton, Middlesbrough, TS9 6NF

Spend a few hours painting a beautiful bowl of bright, zesty lemons in acrylics, with plenty of guidance along the way.

I'll take you through the painting step by step, breaking the process down into simple, manageable stages. We'll explore colour mixing, light and shadow, creating shape and form, and building up layers of colour to bring our lemons to life.

We'll pay particular attention to capturing the vibrant yellows, subtle changes in tone and the contrast between light and dark that gives a still life painting its depth.

Rather than simply copying a finished painting, you'll learn techniques and ways of observing that you can take away and apply to your own artwork. We'll look at how to simplify what we see, understand the shapes in front of us and build confidence when approaching a new painting.

With 14 years of teaching experience, I make the process easy to understand while encouraging you to develop your own individual style. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced artists who would like to develop their painting skills.

All high quality art materials are provided, so you just need to turn up ready to paint.

Tea and a selection of cakes will also be provided, giving us time to paint, learn, have a chat and enjoy a relaxed creative afternoon together.

You'll leave with your own finished painting of these gorgeous zesty lemons and, more importantly, new skills and techniques you can use again and again.

Come on your own or bring a friend and enjoy a few hours of creativity together.
