Light on Dark
Next week (13th May) at Great Ayton Art Club we’ll be working with white chalk on black paper, focusing on blending and smudging to create soft, subtle, and delicate images.
This is always a really popular session. There’s something quite special about building an image by working from dark to light, and seeing forms slowly emerge through gentle layers and careful blending.
I’ll guide you through a simple process to help you build confidence with the material, allowing you to create something that feels considered and effective without it becoming overwhelming.
It’s one I always look forward to, and people often leave this session genuinely surprised at what they’ve produced.
