Introduction to Lino Printing at Saltburn Summer Art Club 28.7.26
LIndsey Groves
This week at Saltburn Summer Art Club we enjoyed our first introduction to lino printing. Using Scandinavian folk art as our inspiration, everyone simplified a reference image into bold shapes and patterns before transferring their design onto lino.
For many of the group it was their first experience of lino cutting, but everyone quickly gained confidence with the tools. By the end of the session, everyone had successfully carved their design and produced at least two linocut prints. It was wonderful to see so many different interpretations from the same reference images, with each print developing its own unique style and character.
Next week we'll be continuing our lino printing project, experimenting with gradient inking techniques and producing a collection of finished prints. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's designs develop even further.
