This session at Great Ayton Art Club was all about colour and confidence as we worked with oil pastels to create vibrant birds.
Some people chose cockerels, others kingfishers, and everyone worked on different coloured paper to really enhance their images. It was great to see how those choices affected the final outcome and made the colours stand out even more.
Oil pastels can feel a bit unfamiliar at first, and some people found it challenging to be bold and confident with them. But as the session went on, everyone started to find their groove, letting go a little and allowing the colour to do the work.
By the end, it was clear that oil pastels were a real favourite. They’re such a fun and expressive material, and definitely something we’ll be coming back to again.
